Tira Mitchell

Tira Mitchell has been involved with the arts nearly her entire life, studying classical music and attending Boston University School of Fine Arts. After graduating with a business degree, she transitioned from music to metal and applied her focus, attention to detail, and control to this new discipline of engraving.

Tira specialized in challenging, large format pieces from the beginning, working with objects like heavy brass bells, automobile parts, and motorcycle struts. Her engravings, including the high-profile Gibson Guitar Anniversary motorcycle built by Donnie Smith which debuted during Daytona Bike Week in 2004, have been on display across the United States.

Her skills have led her to work with diverse media, ranging from stainless steel to fragile eggshell.

Her work has been featured in the online publication Helmet Hair Magazine and she wrote an article published in Issue 77 of FEGA‚ The Engraver. She is a member of the following societies: Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG), Pennsylvania Society of Goldsmiths (PSG), FEGA, and Forks of the Delaware Historical Arms Society.
