Biography
Tira has been involved with the arts since the age of eight. She studied classical music for many years and entered Boston University School of the Arts as a music performance major. After graduating, she was introduced to engraving and transitioned from music to metal. From the beginning, she has specialized in large format, challenging objects like heavy brass bells, restoration of auto parts, motorcycle struts, and cannons. She especially enjoys engraving theme motorcycles where multiple parts are engraved. Her work has been on display nationally from California to Florida, including the high profile Gibson Guitar Anniversary Motorcycle built by Donnie Smith which debuted during Daytona Bike Week, 2004. She works with individual bike builders and custom motorcycle dealers and loves solving problems that come with unusual projects. She can move from auto restoration engraving to knives, and from stone setting/jewelry to firearms. Tira is a member of the Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG), the Pennsylvania Society of Goldsmiths (PSG), and is currently holds the position of treasurer with the Firearms Engravers Guild of America (FEGA). She is an administrator on the iGraver hand engraving forum and operates the Hand Engraving Gallery, an online site which promotes hand engraved arts.
