Lee Griffiths
Lee’s Idaho farm background allowed him to study a variety of animals and plants for most of his life. Encouraged by his father many years ago, he first developed his art skills at home and then with formal education under renowned wildlife artist Leon Parson. His art is a passion as simple as pen and ink and as challenging as life-like scenes engraved on firearms.
He has taught art for years. He enjoys helping others enhance their art skills, no matter how artistic they are. Since abilities vary widely in art, he specializes in helping each person learn the art they need at their own pace.
He began engraving with the traditional “hammer and chisel” and hand-push method. He has used GRS equipment for years which he credits with rapidly accelerating his own progress and those of his students. The Firearms Engravers Guild of America awarded Lee the title of Professional Engraver; in 2006, the “Award of Merit;” in 2007, “Engraver’s Choice” and “Best Engraved Shotgun;” and in 2008 was a part of the FEGA annual exhibition and has been awarded the “Best Engraving Shotgun Award of Merit,” “Glendo/GRS Artistic Merit & Uniqueness,” and "Award of Merit.”
