Students will learn several variations of traditional English Scroll including balanced layout and attractive application, as well as learn how to explore their own variation of this classic style.

- The 4 main types of English scrollwork and how each differs from the other
- Correct spiral structure
- Correct ‘inside work’/leaf structure
- Balancing the developing design and layout
- Scrolls: Combining spirals and ‘inside work’
- Shading of scrollwork
- The importance of ‘negative space’ in layout and design of scrollwork
- Background removal
- The correct application of “outside work”
- The design and formation of flowers used in “bouquet and scroll”
- Different designs use for engraving screws or circular parts
- “Open work”
- Designing your own scrollwork
- Final individual projects
