Course Description
This course is designed to take the individual to an even higher level by learning and focusing on the techniques for raised, sculpted gold inlays and sculpted steel.
Learning Objectives
Flush Inlaid Gold
- Cut a channel and hammer in gold
- Trim and stone off excess gold, polish
- Define the edges of the gold
Gold Overlay
- Prepare metal surface, hammer setting gold
- Stone and repolish, engrave pattern
- Background removal and shading
Relief Engraving
- Techniques for deep background removal
- Achieving sharp, vertical walls on design
Fine Line Shading
- Understand cut direction
- Taper and converge cuts
- Crosshatch for richer, more 3-D work
Bulino Engraving
- Learn both line and dot techniques
- Rendering photorealistic images
Micro Lettering
- Lay out and sign work with miniature block lettering
