This course focuses on one of the more profitable and opportunity-filled market segments: hand jewelry engraving. Some basic subjects will be covered but in greater depth.
This course concentrates on new methods of layout, special pattern designs, graver shapes and sharpening, bright cutting, and other techniques for attractive and efficient jewelry engraving.
Also, you will study bright script lettering, miniature scrollwork, and proper use of millgrain tools.
Learning Objectives
- Introduction and explanation of equipment and tools
- Refresher on tool preparation including accurate sharpening and polishing
- Using a template for design and layout for engraving
- Designing and engraving leaf and floral borders specifically for rings
- Laying out and engraving borders for use on other jewelry pieces
- Millgrained edges
- Bright cut floral designs
- Designing and engraving script lettering
- Engraving block lettering
