Course Description
This is primarily a creative drawing course. This course will take each attendee’s engraving capability to the next level by combining game scenes, scrolls, and other design elements together. Students learn how to create depth, patterns of light, and shade. The instructor reveals how landscape elements can dramatically enhance animal scenes. Engravers learn how to cut a short haired animal versus long haired and ways to execute life like feathers on fowl. All drawing materials are included.

Applicants must have completed a GRS Basic Engraving course or have equivalent experience. Contact GRS for details.

- Understanding the areas of light and shade and how they create the illusion of form and atmosphere
- Shading leaves in scroll
- Designing for a variety of shapes and sizes
- Leaf folds and loops
- Using scroll elements to frame animals
- Understanding design principles for single animals and game scenes
- Identifying and incorporating animals and landscapes into a design
