Course Description
This course is for experienced stone setters who want to expand their skills to include world class micro-pavé stone setting. Students will be shown how to modify standard tools and make special ones to achieve a level of precision virtually unequaled in small stone setting. While accuracy is critical, so is efficiency in today’s competitive world. His techniques produce stunning elegance and incredible symmetry with remarkable productivity.

This course will also introduce you to the tools that are used in the Micro Pavé process. You will learn how to use these tools and make your own. Additionally, you’ll learn how to create several kinds of settings and various setting methods. Specialty tools used are designed by Jura.

Course Objectives
  • Introducing the tools used during the course
  • Working with a microscope
  • How to use advanced tools
  • Improving and making advanced tools such as: drills, beading tools, splitters, stone pushers, and shaping of gravers
  • Layout for stones for micro pavé setting
  • Setting of different shapes (triangle, round, and rectangle) of clusters in several ways
  • Setting with bright cut
  • Crown setting
  • Proper polishing
  • Finishing

Prerequisites
This course requires an existing strong command of stone setting skills, including drilling, bur work, and graver control. Instructor approval is required before acceptance. Contact GRS for details.
